Moral education has become an important concern in the context of contemporary education, along with the increasing challenges related to students’ ethical awareness, critical thinking skills, and social responsibility. Classical literary texts, including Arab fables, offer rich pedagogical resources for instilling educational values through narrative and implicit meanings. This study aims to examine the educational values and moral awareness contained in the classical Arab fable al-Tha‘lab wa al-‘Anz (The Fox and the She-Goat). The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using pragmatic analysis based on Grice’s theory of conversational implicature. The data consist of utterances found in the dialogues of the fable, which are analyzed to reveal the implicit meanings and moral messages embedded in the text. The results show that the fable contains key educational values, including moral vigilance, critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and moral judgment. These values are conveyed indirectly through manipulative speech strategies and violations of conversational maxims, thereby encouraging readers to engage in inferential processes and moral reflection. These findings affirm the relevance of classical Arab fables as contextual and reflective media for moral education and highlight their potential to be integrated into character education practices in the modern era.
